In a career that spans seven solo albums and countless collaborations in the studio and live on stage, Mindi Abair has made her mark as one of the most recognizable saxophonists in the US. You may know her as the saxophonist on American Idol, or the only saxophonist to tour with rock legends Aerosmith since 1973 (her stint with the American Idol band from 2011-2012 led to touring with Aerosmith). You may have seen her on stage with Bruce Springsteen for a historic night at the Beacon Theater, or tuned in as she joined Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra on the Late Show with David Letterman, or caught her appearance at The Grand Ole Opry.

Abair received a 2014 GRAMMY® nomination in the Best Pop Instrumental Album category for Summer Horns, a #1 recording with her friends Dave Koz, Gerald Albright and Richard Elliot, and more recently received a 2015 GRAMMY® nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for her solo cd Wild Heart.

'THE SAX PACK 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR
featuring Jeff Kashiwa, Steve Cole and Kim Waters
The idea of The Sax Pack originated in 2004 with saxophonist Jeff Kashiwa
after he saw a movie about the “Rat Pack,” a group of legendary entertainers led by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr.
Inspired by their showmanship and camaraderie, Kashiwa came up with the name The Sax Pack and called on some of his saxophone peers and started a new group that would feature the instrument, as well as their collective musical passion for jazz, funk and R&B.
The Sax Pack has released two CDs, “The Sax Pack” (2008) and “The Pack is Back” (2009) on Shanachie Records.
The Sax Pack features Jeff Kashiwa, Steve Cole & Kim Waters. Along with being cohesive musically, the trio share a unique and comical camaraderie on stage.
Backed by a tight rhythm section, the talented trio combine their life-long love of music and their passion for performance, to make an impact on audiences that love music as much as they do.
Committed to sharing the excitement, spontaneity and creative energy that flows between them on stage, The Sax Pack inspires an audience far beyond the duration of a show.
The well-known saxophonists are excited to create a show that combines their individual styles and diverse backgrounds for a fresh approach to the music that inspired them all to become musicians: jazz.
